Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday that the law signed by President Rodrigo Duterte Tuesday is very good as it will affect the whole countryside as more income will come for the government.
“If there is more income for the government, more services will be given to the people,” Marañon said in an interview during the Outstanding Farmers' Assembly at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.

WHILE local businessmen are optimistic that the newly-signed tax reform law will result to more infrastructure projects and spur further developments in the country, a labor group in Negros Occidental is apprehensive of its impact to the workers.
Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said that more than the income tax exemption for workers earning P21,000 a month, what they are looking at is the billions of pesos that will be generated through the law.

Both the business group and the provincial government are eyeing a 2-legged economy for Negros Occidental, to ensure that growth will include the rural developing areas in the province.
This was revealed by Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive officer Frank Carbon yesterday, after they held a seminar for provincial department heads and local chief executives on developing economic strategies recently.

Thirty-eight department and office heads of the Negros Occidental are currently attending the two-day Local Economic Development Strategy Planning jointly organized by the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Center that started yesterday at the Beach House in Sagay City.
MBCCI president Frank Carbon who welcomed the group said that in a few years, there will be a change in the economic landscape so it is best that they learn the strategies this early. He urged those persons to help local government units make the rural areas development- prone instead of development resistant, a press release from the capitol said.

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), through its Local Road Network Development Plan (LRNDP), should integrate all other interconnectivity projects of the government in Negros Occidental, a private sector representative said.

THE Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) has tapped the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (Opav) to help accelerate the completion of the flood control project in Bacolod City vital in boosting the local business climate.
MBCCI chief executive officer Frank Carbon said they submitted a resolution to Opav Thursday, October 5, requesting Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino to make a representation to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

ABOUT 400 porters and drivers in seaport terminals in Bacolod City will be tapped to strengthen the Provincial Government’s anti-terrorism efforts.

Around 17 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and local government units from Negros Occidental will participate in the annual Negros Business Week celebration of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Robinson's Place, Bacolod City, that kicks off today.
MBCCI chief executive officer Frank Carbon said yesterday that the event now on its eight year run, aims to help the MSMEs to promote their products and services, and encourage them to level into medium and large scale enterprises.
