THE Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) is urging Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) to establish its own wastewater treatment facility through acquiring loans from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of MBCCI, said the government bank has a new financing program to assist water districts establish its waste water facility.Â
Carbon said the business group hopes that Baciwa explores the lending initiatives of the DBP to make the city compliant to Clean Water Act of 2004.

The inflation rate in Western Visayas remained steady in March, data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority yesterday showed.
The inflation rate of the region dropped to 3.2 percent from 3.3 percent in the previous month. It is slightly lower compared to the national average that decelerated to 3.3 percent in March from 3.8 percent in February.
Western Visayas was among the regions in the country with the lowest inflation rate in all commodity groups, placing sixth in all of the 17 regions.

A LOCAL business group is upbeat that the additional development at the reclamation area of Bacolod City will further boost the economy of Negros Occidental.
Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said the plan to reclaim an additional of 300-hectare foreshore land would mean a lot of employment for Negrenses.Â
Carbon said the construction stage alone would already create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

The inflation rate in Western Visayas dropped to 3.3 percent in February from 4.1 percent in the previous month, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed yesterday.
The inflation rate of the region is lower compared to the national average, which is 3.8 percent from 4.4 percent in the previous month, and the National Capital Region at 3.8 percent.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he already signed a request to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, seeking an extension of the BOSS, that started Jan. 3 and supposed to end on Jan. 20.

A COLLABORATION among the United States Agency for International Development (USAid), academe, and business sectors is seen to boost the billion worth of fishery industry in Negros Occidental.
Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said that USAid has tapped Silliman University (SU) in Negros Oriental and University of the Philippines–Visayas in Iloilo City for a possible collaboration to develop the Visayan Sea and southern Negros seas, respectively.Â
USAid is the lead U.S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient and democratic societies to realize their potential.
