THE Business Chambers of the Negros Island Region is fully supporting the
competitive selection process for power supply purchase agreement set by the
Department of Energy (DOE), but the implementing rules and regulations should
undergo public hearings in all regions.
This was relayed Tuesday by Frank Carbon, regional governor of the Philippine
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Western Visayas and Negros
Occidental.
Carbon said PCCI, along with the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (NOCCI) and Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), has
already sent a position paper to DOE last April 29.

BUSINESS groups in Negros Occidental have raised concerns over
non-operational street lights at the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road as it may
negatively impact the local business industry.
Frank Carbon, regional governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (PCCI) in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental, said the group has
already brought the matter to the attention of the Department of Public Works
and Highways in Negros Island Region (DPWH-18) during a recent meeting with its
head, Lea Delfinado.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Frank Carbon yesterday lauded the
recent economic progress and development in Bacolod City and other parts of
Negros Occidental, despite the city's drop from No. 2 in 2010 to No. 73 this
year in the National Competitiveness Index.

Leaders of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metro
Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry last night signed a sisterhood
agreement, which Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. described as a giant step for the
success of the Negros Island Region.
“This agreement is the first step in our coordination and cooperation for a
better future for all Negrenses,” Marañon said.
The agreement was signed by NOCCI president Edward Du and MBCCI president
Frank Carbon at Tierra Alta Resort in Valencia, Negros Oriental, with Marañon as
witness and guest speaker.

The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metro Bacolod
Chamber of Commerce and Industry will formally sign a sisterhood chamber
agreement on July 16, NOCCI president Ed Du said yesterday.
The signing rites to be hosted by NOCCI will be held at Tierra Alta, Palinpinon,
Negros Oriental.

The two Negros Occidental provinces are joining the Philippine Chamber of
Commerce and Industry Visayas area business conference in Dumaguete City July 16
and 17 for the first time as part of the Negros Island Region.
Joining the conference are business leaders from Region 6 (Western Visayas),
Region 7 (Central Visayas), Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) and Region 18 (NIR),
Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
said yesterday.
