The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce plans to firm up partnerships with the provincial government next month for improving the cattle and buffalo industry in Negros Occidental.
MBCCI chief executive officer Frank Carbon said that they will propose a Public-Private Partnerships with the province to improve the meat and milk production of local cattle and buffalos, using technology and research support from the Northern Territory of Australia.

Three emerging growth centers in the Negros Island Region are being eyed as clusters for progress and development of the Local Government Units of the region.
The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Negros Occidental Chamber of Commerce and Industry have identified the clusters belonging to Metro Bacolod that includethe cities ofTalisay, Silay, Bago and the towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto, Metro Dumaguete with its satellite LGUs of Sibulan, Bacong, Valencia, and Dauin in Negros Oriental and Metro Kabankalan which include Himamaylan, Ilog, Mabinay,Ayungon and Tayasan.

THE business sector is also taking seriously the new administration’s massive campaign against illegal drugs by initiating measures in the workplace, a local business leader said.
Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), a fastcraft vessel operator, yesterday said he has already started incorporating in their company’s policy some anti-illegal drug cleansing steps.
Carbon said their employees have been required to submit latest barangay clearance, indicating that they are not included in the list of drug dependent residents in their respective areas.

Business groups in the Negros Island Region (NIR) is pushing for the establishment of the three proposed growth centers in Bacolod, Dumaguete and Kabankalan, Frank Carbon, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Western Visayas/NIR regional governor, said.
Carbon said the areas will not only fast-track development of towns and cities, but will also attract bigger investors to the Negros Island Region.

The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday pushed to make the Negros Island Region the a gri-agro-fisheries center of the country, at the eco nomic forum, "Sulong Pilipinas," held at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City, NOCCI president Edward Du said.
The Negros business groups cited NIR's vast fertile land, rich marine resources, abundant water, renewable energy, skilled labor, strategic location, and good infrastructure in their proposal, Du said.

LOCAL business groups have asked the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) for an update on the status of its bulk water project amid pressing concerns on water shortage in the city.
In a letter dated June 9, a copy of which was obtained by Sun.Star Bacolod, Frank Carbon, regional governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental, requested the Baciwa management through its general manager Mario Macatangay for a meeting with various local business groups.
Carbon said the business community wants to discuss with the water district matters pertaining to the supply contract, including the status of the Joint Venture Company, bank loan facility, supplier credit line agreement, performance bond, and status of water rights.

A BUSINESS group in Negros Occidental has asked the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) to take action on the power disruption woes in its area of jurisdiction that result in unscheduled brownouts.
In a letter dated June 9, a copy of which was obtained by Sun.Star Bacolod, Frank Carbon, regional governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental, told Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. to act on the reported grid disruptions that induce regular power shortage.
